Besides all the incredible fruit and poke, I think my favorite part about Hawaii was how unexpectedly diverse the landscape was. Dry, barren desert one minute, black lava fields the next, and lush rainforest the third. The humid 90 degree heat on the coast nosedives to a brisk 43 as you make your way up to 9,000+ feet in an hour's drive.

Other highlights: staring at the Milky Way for hours, the salty ocean breeze while cruising the coast with the top down, watching the sun set from above the clouds, swimming with a massive sea turtle while we were alone in a tide pool, and all the friendly faces we met along the way.
